While there are plenty of contenders in this segment, our Nissan Versa is the standard by which all others are measured. We decided to compare the Versa sedan to two popular contenders the Kia Forte. Price

This battle was over before it really started. When we took a look at the entry-level models of each sedan, the Versa came in with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price that's significantly lower than that of the Forte. When you consider that even at that lower price the Versa also includes standard features that aren't offered for the base Forte, it's quite clear which model offers the best value for your money.

Safety

The Nissan Versa comes with standard whiplash protection that helps prevent neck and spine injuries, while the Kia Forte doesn't offer that extra safety measure. The Forte comes with a metal fuel tank that's prone to leaking when impacted, which can lead to a greater possibility of fire; the Versa features a plastic fuel tank that better withstands hard, intrusive impacts.

Dimensions

The Versa has a taller profile than the Forte, making it easier to see the road ahead. Front-row occupants enjoy greater headroom in the Versa than they do in the Forte, while rear-sear passengers have more legroom to stretch out.

Features

The Nissan Versa includes standard speed-sensitive steering, digital/analog instrumentation display, and Siri Eyes Free voice-activated audio control. Neither Siri Eyes Free nor speed-sensitive steering are available for the Forte, which only has old-school analog instrumentation.
