The Versa Takes on Hyundai Rivals

While there are plenty of contenders in this segment, our Nissan Versa is the standard by which all others are measured. We decided to compare the Versa sedan to two popular contenders, the Hyundai Elantra. Read on to see how things turned out.

Price
The Entry-level Versa has a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price that's nearly $6,000 lower than that of the base Elantra, allowing you to spend more of your monthly budget on other things than a car payment. That extra value only increases when you look at the standard features found on the Versa that are only offered with an upgraded, even more expensive version of the Elantra.
Features
While both subcompacts are similarly equipped when it comes to most amenities, the Versa does include some that aren't offered on the base Elantra. These include a radio data system, Siri Eyes Free voice-activated audio control, a blend of digital and analog instrumentation, and adjustable rear head restraints. The Elantra's rear head restraints are fixed, the instrumentation is analog, and there's no voice-activated audio controls or radio data.
Dimensions
The Versa has a three-inch exterior height advantage over the Elantra, so you have a better view of the road -- and other drivers have a better view of your vehicle. The Versa also offers the larger trunk space, as well as better rear-seat legroom.
Safety
Both the Versa and the Elantra come equipped with the standard safety features you want, like a rearview camera, brake assist, electronic stability control, traction control, tire pressure monitoring, and a wireless cell phone hookup.
